Project Life April 29- May 5

4 comments:
LOVED this week!  My hubby took some great shots of my boys at a campout they went on--shared on THIS layout.  I stamped with my dear Lizzy stamp and used some cuts from my silhouette.
little closeup of one of my cut outs from my silhouette & sticker from Jenni Bowlin.
Loved the look of kraft on kraft--SO cool in person!  My favorite part of this week was having the boys come home JUST in time to shower and off to see the Avengers--LOVED that movie!
XX project life! :)

first day

8 comments:
I know we JUST finished up school, but I NEVER scrapped the pictures I took of my kids the first day!  October Afternoon had a sketch challenge in which they wanted to use their new release 9 to 5 (love it so much I ordered a pack of it after I have the whole line--it is SO fun!) and they provided this sketch:
I know there are circles!  I had to take a DEEP breath and came up with this (for those that don't know I have circle phobia....):
(sorry this picture isn't as bright as normal...was having technical difficulties and well...I gave up!)
some closeups:
yes, I hand stitched around all the cut out stars...(LOVE this wood grain!)
LOVED using the stars instead of the hearts--this layout came together surprisingly quick!  Well, as always I'm on the run--need to return a trumpet to the music store today!
Thanks for the visit!

Knight Company Flag

2 comments:
Today found me creatively busy making a flag for our Trek.  (A trek is an excursion of sorts, we dress in pioneer attire and push/pull handcarts.  My hubby and I were asked to be a Ma & Pa of about 10 children.  what is cool is that we were asked to take a name of ancestor to remember them and appreciate them.  Should be an adventure--we will be traveling 20 miles.)  Here is a picture of my flag, it was exhausting.  I don't sew on fabric, it stresses me out thanks to my 7th grade home ec. teacher--I seriously get MAJOR anxiety over sewing on fabric.  But I was pretty proud of this little flag made from a pillow case!
the outside is May Arts ribbon I mitered (thank you Laura Vegas for the paper miter idea!  I used that to make the ribbon look nice)  then I cut out the letters and Knight with my cameo.  The Knight is something I found online and using the tracing feature I traced him and then cut it out.  Our ward's (congregation) color is yellow, that is why the knight it yellow.  And we are called by our Bishop's (ministers) last name.  We will most likely have the youth sign this guy--should be cool!  I bought a dowel at Michael's that will slide into the casing I made (on the right hand side).  I seriously was determined to get this finished today! My mommy would be proud--I sewed on something OTHER than paper! :)
I'm off to pull an apple crisp out of the oven--it's my big brother's birthday and I wanted to SURPRISE him with a treat!
Thanks So much for the visit!

In honor of Memorial Day

3 comments:
Happy Memorial day to all of my US friends.  Celebrating with family & remembering those who have gone before & serve us now to help to give us the freedom we enjoy today.
When I think of service men I think of my Papa--I miss him, he has been gone now for 11 years.  He was a special grandpa-making me feel special.  I recently stumbled upon a WONDERFUL stash of pictures of him and his family when they were stationed in Japan after WWII.  I might be a little biased but I think he was QUITE handsome.  When I said so to my Nanny-she agreed in the AFFIRMATIVE! :)
I know that I'm going to have to scrap these pictures that I've found--how could I not?

One more thing I want to quickly share. In honor of the holiday today, Scrapbook Circle would like to offer a 20% discount on the Let Freedom Ring kit--TODAY only!  This offer last until midnight pst.  Just enter FREEDOM20 at checkout.
thanks for stopping in today!

teacher appreciation gifts & a graduation card

7 comments:
The last few days I've been a busy bee working on teacher's gifts AND a graduation card.  I used the Estate Sale Line from Bella Blvd. that I bought from their warehouse sale last month:
one teacher LOVES peanut m&m's:

The other two like Scrapbooking so I went to my favorite scrapbook store and bought gift cards which are in the little pockets on the front.  This idea came from THIS post by Lisa Truesdell a few days ago:
here's a good closeup of the flowers.  I got this idea from the GCD studios blog, THIS post has a GREAT detailed description on how to make them.  I didn't like the centers so I decided to make pom pom's with embroidery floss and hot glue those on to the end of the bamboo skewer and pull through the flower...
They are pretty interesting to look at...

And finally I made this fun little graduation card for a niece who is graduating today:
The girl is a silhouette cut..
This was SO much fun to play!  yeah for the last day of school--mixed emotions?  yep, excited for NO schedule--YOU BET!
Thanks for the visit today!
