Summer Fun

4 comments:
Yesterday, I started out following one sketch and when I was done it didn't look anything like it! Does that EVER happen to you? The process was so fun, I embraced the randomness of my thoughts--listening to music from my friend Jennifer Yates blog--I created this:
isn't this butterfly just fun? I wanted him to have antenna and didn't know how I was going to until I cut out a large butterfly mounted him on pop dots and layered him over a smaller butterfly. I added glossy accents to him to make him shine. He looks so good in person!
more of my flowers:
I really LOVE this butterfly paper from Jillibean soup (as you can tell lately I'm on a butterfly kick, wherever I can I'll add one!) I was going through my picture looking for something to fit the previously mentioned sketch, and I found this instead...LOVE it! The girls are sitting up on a wooden fence that is WELL worn and there was a LARGE storm rolling in behind them. The colors of the picture were perfect. Last July was sure filled with fun family activities!
well, I just looked at the clock and realized I have to be somewhere VERY soon. Just thought I would stop in on this VERY busy Thursday and share. Thanks for stopping by and visiting!

supplies: pattern paper: Jillibean soup

cardstock: bazzill

Search Ponder Pray

7 comments:
have you ever had a picture that was so special that you didn't scrap it? I have several, but in this case, this picture is something I knew would go on a layout that would eventually go on my wall. This picture of my son was taken right after he was baptized, I wanted it to be something VERY special so that he could look at it and remember his special day. I also wanted this page to be masculine without over powering the picture. I really like the affect of these papers by Lilybee and how the whole thing turned out.
supplies:
shapes: american crafts
pattern paper: Lily Bee Designs
pearls: basic grey
type: american typewriter
letters: cricut once upon a time
punches: fiskars & martha stewart

Thanks so much for stopping by this fine Wednesday! Make your day a great one!

FLY--jillibean soup

4 comments:
So this layout had several influences, the sketchy Thursdays sketch for this week (notice I said inspired...), the picture itself and my memories.

Anyway, the butterflies were originally kraft color and I painted on them with a combo of distress ink, water, and liquid pearls. It was REALLY fun! I learned the technique at CHA from Jennifer Mcguire, she used water color paper so the blending was a little better. But I really like the shimmery affect the butterflies have. I'll being a video tutorial here in the next few weeks....
Okay, I LOVE this song:
I know it's not new but lately it's just been so inspiring!

thanks for stopping by this Saturday! We are getting some rain, LOVE it!

AR field trip--sketch #50 the scrappiest

6 comments:
I really had a lot of fun with the layers on this one:
Some inspiration has to be credited to Michelle Lanning & Jen Jockisch. The the paper is from the Scrapbook Circle February kit. Notice the little flower..yep from my video tutorial the other day. The only other things I added to this page were the lace, & large letters, and glitter they were from my stash. It was really the first time in a LONG time I've worked with glitter boy is it messy! But at the same time SUPER fun!
Today is another GORGEOUS day, have the windows open canning MORE beans. Hanging out with the puppies, sure is nice to be quiet right now. We've been at it all week, I'm sort of tired! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Free Lunch-#51 the scrappiest

7 comments:
Today is SO pretty. The weather is absolutely perfect--it's like everyone else's summer. I have the windows open, canning some beans. You see I try to only can when the weather is cooler, then I'm not cooling down from the heat inside!
I finished this layout this morning--I'm really diggin' this take your time on a layout. It was an adjustment for me because I feel like I'm rushing all the time, it was taking from the fun of creating. The part that I had to accept was--it's okay if your page sits there for a day undone! And I really am! Anyway, enough sharing my self talk with you....
Here is the sketch I used (this happens to be #51):
This paper is bright--different than I'm used to using, but I LOVE it! Yes, I've had it for a while it's from GCD studios so are the stickers. The rubons & border sticker are crate paper.
I need to set out another layout, and plan what we are eating for dinner. We've got a busy schedule tonight with piano & soccer practice, AND we are going to the Junior high for a meet and greet! I can't believe my DD is going there next year--just plain CRAZY!
Thanks for stopping by and reading my rant! Hope you have a FANTASTIC day!

tip of the day & Happy President's day!

4 comments:
I wanted to share my tip of the day that I did for Scrapbook Circle today:

Yes, I LOVE flowers and was so excited to create this quick and easy one.

So, today is President's day that means a day of for the kiddos for school. What to do? Well, their rooms are HORRIBLE, so I promised them if they got them cleaned we would get to do something special. We've been cleaning for 2 1/2 hours...ugh! (they get so distracted....) Anyway, we are almost down to the time when we need to leave and I can proudly say they are working as a team to get DS room clean. What are we doing? We are going to see The Tooth Fairy with Dwayne Johnson (the rock) it looked really cute and I'm sure we will enjoy it. They still don't know...the suspense is so exciting! :)
I Hope you are enjoying your day and making fun memories!

Hello--welcome to smoothie Friday!

10 comments:
Yes, we have smoothies, EVERY Friday morning at our house. It seems to be the "magic" to get the kiddos out of bed on the last day of the school week.
So I found out yesterday that my page that was in the you judge thing at Creating keepsakes, didn't make it. After patting my eyes and eating a large bowl of ice cream I got to work on these, the teacher's valentines.
**WARNING Picture heavy**:
Bo Bunny paper, sticker is Bazzill, heart stickers cloud 9, Bazzill border, stickles....
Back side, I placed the end of the mailbox over the part that I wanted to cut
The mailbox is pretty small--it was from the dollar bin at Target. I measured the opening and cut out envelopes and cards from my cricut (I used the wild cards cartridge--thanks mommy!) it was set at 3 1/2". The borders on these cards is a combo of pre-made borders and some I used my scallop punch from fiskars.
The heart on the love card was also cut with my cricut (doodlecharms) and the love was cut too (Home accents). It is set on pop dots too. I distressed the edges of all the cards and the mailboxes, just slightly.
Here is the Fancy pants paper mailbox:
After I took this picture DS came home and wanted me to add stickles to the outside of the box. I did do that to these pre-made cards, don't know if you can tell from these pictures. I measured these cards and cut out envelopes for these as well.
cloud 9 paper mailbox:
The pink glitter paper I've had for at least 3 years, it's so pretty! I was hording it for a great project--I think it worked perfectly.
the chipboard hearts were by a company named pressed petals, the gummy glittered hearts are from cloud 9. The XOXO stamp I bought at Michaels this year for $1. The little hearts I cut from my cricut and embossed, they are popped up on pop dots.
What always amazes me is that I had the mailboxes done on Tuesday, the kids came in after school and I told them they needed to pick one for their teacher. They didn't come in at the same time but there was NO fighting once they saw the choices. This seems to happen every time I made something for their teachers. Thanks for sticking with me and this LONG post. Hope your Friday is FANTASTIC!

Cosmo Cricket and Material girl

No comments:
so today I wanted to blog about something...nothing is really coming to mind, actually not much is coming to mind...I'm in a cold medicine induced fog...yep-the yuck has still got a grip..I've got a good 4 hour window to go to the grocery store...um yeah that is not all that exciting today...I usually get excited about it...I know I'm weird!

ANYWAY, I was looking at my google reader. And Cosmo Cricket is featuring Scrapbook Circle's kit today! And guess what our layouts are on their site too! Check it out HERE, pretty sweet! I know Lisa has 2 kits left for February, it's a great kit and SO easy to work with. I hope to do something else after my grocery trip today--(here's hoping my cold meds are still working!--so nice not to have head pressure!)

Ella the puppy is at the vets today getting spayed. She should be home this afternoon. I know that was random, but that's how life is right now.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope your Tuesday is a FUN one!--It was chocolate pancake day here AND class pictures--ooh! excitement! :)

XOXO garland

5 comments:

I made this cute garland on Sunday. It was so quick and easy! This isn't an original idea, but it sure was SUPER fun to make! (this also happens to be my tip of the day at Scrapbook Circle today....) For the instructions:
1. First I cut my shapes. The larger hearts were cut at 3" (for the backing) and 2"(for the inner part). The letters were cut at 1".
2. I then cut my circles, some are cut at 1 1 /2" & some are at 1 1/4".
3. I ran my Kraft colored circles through my crimper.
4. I set up the order in which I wanted my pattern to go.
5. I set my sewing machine to a straight stitch and began to sew. **to make sure there wasn't any bunching I pulled the end straight. ** Also in between each shape I let the needle go up and down 4 times--to give some space.
6. After I had everything together I glued on my buttons and letters.

Thanks for stopping by today! I'm off to take a nap, whatever this is I have just won't go away. Hopefully a good nap will help! I've gotta go to the dentist AND to soccer practice tonight with the kiddos.

Truck stops somewhere...

4 comments:
catchy title, right? I wanted to make another page with the FABULOUS February kit from Scrapbook Circle. The colors were right to use these pictures AND I used a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays...
Everything is included in the kit except for the letters which are REALLY old...like 6 or 7 years..from SEI...but they still work and they were perfect!
To explain about the pictures a little, a couple of summers ago we went to Utah for a wedding. On the way I thought it would be fun to take pictures of the INTERESTING things that we saw. Yep, coon skin cap, elk head, squishy eye ball head thingies. There was more but these are the only pictures I printed for some reason. But it sure captures our adventure of traveling to truck stops--somewhere!

Thanks for popping in today! Make this Friday a GREAT one!

Sketchy Thursdays--finally....

6 comments:

I finally made the layout the week that the sketch that came out at Sketchy Thursdays:
This came together quickly as everything was in a scraps bag that I have right next to my desk. It sure was a lot of FUN! I have had these little pictures printed out for some time, and loved them and catching DS in the act of jumping off the diving board. I don't usually add flowers to my boys pages but it just fit.
I wanted to remind you of my giveaway in the post on Saturday. I will be drawing some winners on Saturday so make sure you get your name in for the drawing!
Thanks for stopping by today!

2 sketches card Kazan's #45, and oh, it's my BIRTHDAY! :)

12 comments:
so this is Kazan's sketch this week from 2 sketches 4 you:
It seems like forever since I've played over there! But this week I just had to...I cut these wonderful round scallops using the wild card cricut cartridge (thanks mommy!) I knew I liked them when I cut them I just didn't know what I was going to do with them. When I saw this weeks sketch I new just what to do with them. I ended up making 3 cards, here are two of them. The same BUT different! :)

I also used the doodlecharms cartridge for the bus/car and hearts. I sure am LOVING this expression--it's so much more versatile than my old cricut! :)
Here is the second card:
the rubons are from American Crafts, and the clouds I hand cut.

SO...today is my birthday! It's been a nice day--the whether is GORGEOUS like 70 degrees--(don't worry we will be 110+ in the summer and you won't be jealous!) I just got back from lunch with a friend, this particular restaurant is owned by a man named Joe--he happens to own 3 restaurants--he also happens to give you $10 toward your meal, which for me equates to FREE!! Guess where I'm going tonight?! His BBQ place, the one that my youngest DS says he could eat for breakfast lunch AND dinner. It's that good! :) Fun stuff, krispy kreme also gives you a FREE dozen doughnuts--when I went to pick them up the girl at the window told me to remind my DH that it was my birthday. I looked at her and said, "I'm OBNOXIOUS about my birthday!" She laughed and said, "you go girl!" And I did! :)
Thanks for stopping by today! I'm off to enjoy something, not sure if I am going to be creating or reading, or watching something. I'm just going to enjoy it! AND Lost starts tonight! Woohoo! Great present! Have a FANTASTIC ground hog day!
